Your Role

We are looking for a dynamic and talented Associate to strengthen our Syndications team. In this role, you will contribute directly to FMO’s mobilization ambitions by supporting the origination and execution of syndicated transactions, helping to ensure the smooth execution of URP agreements, and providing market intelligence and pricing insights across the organization. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career professional with experience in banking or development finance to build expertise and create impact.

Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with SYN Investment Officers on the origination and execution of syndicated transactions
• Coordinate due diligence visits and bankers' meetings for co-lenders/participants.
• Support the team’s unfunded mobilization activities, including monitoring the URP portfolio and preparing reports for our unfunded partners.
• Conduct market research to identify opportunities and structure syndicated transactions in focus sectors.
• Provide pricing benchmarks for the broader organization.
• Contribute to department projects, such as identifying process improvements and optimizing quality standards.

• Gross yearly salary ranging from EUR 50-60K (based on 40 hours/ week, including 8% holiday allowance and 13th month) depending on your seniority, years of relevant experience, and background).

Partnerships for Impact mobilizes third-party capital to increase FMO’s impact in emerging and frontier markets. Our work ranges from raising public capital to absorb early-stage risks to arranging loan syndications and mobilizing institutional investors. By bringing together different sources of capital, we have built a strong track record in blended finance, syndications and investment management. The department has more than 40 colleagues across three teams: FMO Investment Management (FIM), Public Investment Management (PIM) and Syndications (SYN).

The Syndications team plays a key role in FMO’s mobilization ambition as it is responsible for all loan syndications, Unfunded Risk Sharing Programs (URPs) with global insurance companies and facility agency services.

The Syndications team consists of 15 employees divided over two groups in the areas of Syndications (7 persons), Agency desk (5 persons), URP (1 person) and a Management Assistant, all reporting to the Manager Syndications

Your Background

• Master's degree in finance, economics, accounting, investments, law or business administration.
• Minimum of 1-3 years of working experience in banking or development finance.
• Experience with syndicated loans, legal loan documentation (LMA), knowledge of capital markets and proficiency in Bloomberg would be an advantage.
• Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal.
