Since 2011, INSO has provided free, life-saving safety coordination to over 1,500 NGOs across 24 of the most insecure countries on earth — real-time incident tracking, crisis support, training, and data that keeps humanitarian teams safer. We're headquartered in The Hague, and our work runs on the INSO Portal: the platform connecting our field teams, HQ, and NGO partners around the world.

About the product:

INSO Portal — the platform that brings our field teams, HQ staff, and NGO partners together in one place. It's not a side project or something we bolt features onto and forget; it's the connective tissue of our organization, and it has to be trustworthy, secure, and genuinely usable by people working under real pressure, sometimes with unreliable connectivity, in urgent situations. Because of that, we're looking for someone who wants to grow the Portal thoughtfully over the long term.

What you'd be doing

You'll design and build features across the full stack, take real ownership from development through production, and help shape how our engineering practices evolve as the Portal grows. You'd work closely with engineers and operational colleagues who understand the field realities the Portal needs to support.

You'll thrive here if you:

✅ Have 3+ years of professional software development experience

✅ Know your way around Java (Spring) and Angular or similar frameworks

✅ Are comfortable with MySQL, RESTful APIs, and distributed systems Redis,

✅ Containerised environments (Docker / Kubernetes) are a plus

✅ Care as much about maintainability and security as you do about shipping features

✅ Want your code to matter — literally, for people's safety

📍Terms and Conditions

Fixed-term (renewable), full-time, based in The Hague, Netherlands €5,200/month (+ 8% vacation pay), health insurance, and 2.5 days of leave per month if based in The Hague. If based remotely, conditions will be discussed during the hiring process

Candidates must have the legal right to live and work in the country where they will be based.
