Corporate Communications Manager (Leiden, NL)

Purpose of the Role
The Corporate Communications Manager reports to the Head of Communications and leads the day-to-day execution of Pharming’s global communications across internal, external, digital, and executive channels. Reporting to the Head of Corporate Communications, the role helps ensure communications are clear, consistent, and aligned with corporate priorities, the corporate brand, and regulatory requirements.
This is an individual-contributor role within a small, hands-on Corporate Communications team and does not currently include line-management responsibility. The pace can be high, particularly around business-critical milestones, and priorities may change quickly. The role requires someone who can respond rapidly, work independently and deliver accurate, high-quality communications to tight deadlines.
Key Responsibilities
Communications Planning & Delivery
- Develop and deliver integrated communications plans and campaigns aligned with corporate priorities and the corporate communications strategy.
- Manage communications projects end to end, coordinating timelines, inputs, review, and approvals to ensure timely, high-quality delivery.
- Translate complex scientific, financial, and business information into clear, compelling, and audience-appropriate communications.
- Plan and deliver communications supporting corporate, financial, clinical, and regulatory milestones, organizational updates, business initiatives, and leadership communications in close coordination with relevant functions.
- Identify proactive communications opportunities and recommend practical improvements that strengthen effectiveness and stakeholder engagement.
- Support the Head of Corporate Communications with executive communications materials as required.
Internal Communications & Employee Engagement
- Plan and deliver internal communications that help employees understand and engage with company strategy, priorities, and culture.
- Develop and coordinate communications for town halls, leadership updates, employee campaigns, and internal announcements.
- Partner with HR and other stakeholders on change communications, employee engagement, and employer branding initiatives.
- Manage and continuously improve internal communications channels, processes, and content effectiveness.
Content Development & Channel Management
- Write, edit, and adapt high-quality content for internal and external channels, including the intranet, corporate website, newsletters, presentations, social media, and executive communications.
- Manage editorial planning and content calendars aligned with corporate objectives and key business milestones.
- Ensure consistent messaging, tone of voice, and use of the corporate brand across communications materials.
- Ensure content is accurate, appropriately reviewed, and aligned with pharmaceutical regulatory and compliance requirements.
Media & External Relations
- Manage day-to-day media relations, including drafting press releases and briefing materials, coordinating inquiries and proactive outreach, and preparing spokespeople, under the direction of the Head of Corporate Communications.
- Work in close partnership with Investor Relations on corporate and financial communications, aligning roles, messaging, timing, review and execution in line with listed-company disclosure requirements.
- Coordinate timely responses to external inquiries, securing input and approvals and escalating potential risks early.
- Monitor media coverage, industry developments and stakeholder conversations to identify emerging risks and opportunities.
- Identify and deliver proactive storytelling and thought-leadership opportunities that strengthen Pharming’s corporate reputation.
Digital & Social Media
- Own the day-to-day management of Pharming’s corporate social media channels in line with communications strategy and compliance requirements.
- Manage corporate website content updates and support digital initiatives that strengthen stakeholder engagement and corporate visibility.
- Use digital trends, analytics, and engagement data to improve content effectiveness and reach.
- Ensure digital communications follow corporate brand standards, governance requirements, and channel best practices.
Measurement & Analytics
- Set practical KPIs, track performance across channels and campaigns, and use data and stakeholder feedback to improve future communications.
- Prepare concise performance reports and translate findings into actionable recommendations.
Stakeholder & Agency Coordination
- Work closely with HR, Investor Relations, Commercial, Medical Affairs, Legal, Compliance, and other teams to deliver integrated and aligned communications.
- Manage agencies and vendors to deliver agreed outputs on brief, on time, and within budget.
- Build effective working relationships, provide practical communications advice, and ensure smooth execution across the business.
Your profile:
Knowledge & Experience:
- Five to seven years of corporate communications experience, including substantial pharma or biotech experience gained in-house and/or at an agency.
- Exceptional English writing and editing skills, with a track record of turning complex scientific and business information into clear, engaging content for different audiences and formats.
- Hands-on experience planning and delivering communications across internal, external and digital channels, including media relations, employee communications and digital content.
- Experience managing corporate websites and social media channels and using content management systems and analytics in a regulated environment.
- Proven ability to run multiple communications projects end to end, coordinating contributors, agencies, reviews and approvals while delivering accurate, high-quality work to tight deadlines.
- Experience working directly with senior leaders and cross-functional teams, with the confidence to challenge constructively and the judgment to handle sensitive information.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing or a related field.
- Preferred: Experience in an international, publicly listed company, working with Investor Relations and supporting executive communications; proficiency in Dutch.
