Purpose
- As a Data Governance Lead, you support Data Governance Manager in the development and implementation of data governance frameworks.
- Ensure data quality, compliance, ownership, stewardship, and security while managing data governance teams.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to establish policies and processes that enhance data management and integrity.
- Support and enable cross-company data strategy and objectives.
Responsibilities
- Lead the development and implementation of data governance policies, ensuring data quality, security, and compliance with industry standards and regulations.
- Collaborate with data owners, stewards, and stakeholders to establish governance frameworks and best practices.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for data policies, procedures, and standards.
- Monitor compliance with data governance policies and address any issues or breaches promptly.
- Provide training and support to team members and stakeholders on governance practices and tools.
- Conduct regular audits and reviews of data governance processes to measure effectiveness and continuous improvement.
- Guide the implementation and maintenance of data quality processes, including data profiling, data cleansing, and data validation.
- Support Data Governance Manager to coordinate with IT and data management teams to ensure governance requirements are integrated into data architecture and systems.
- Develop and enforce data stewardship practices, ensuring accountability and ownership of data assets across the organization.
- Monitor and report on data governance metrics and KPIs to assess progress, providing recommendations for improvements.
- Stay updated with the latest trends and technologies in data governance and apply this knowledge to enhance the organization's data governance capabilities.
- Facilitate communication and collaboration among stakeholders in data governance initiatives.
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, or a related field is required.
- Certifications such as TOGAF (The Open Group Architecture Framework), ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library), or relevant data governance and management certifications are preferred.
- Proficiency in English is essential for effective communication with team members, stakeholders, and external vendors.
- A Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Business Administration, or a related field is desirable but not mandatory.
Experience
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in data governance, data management, or a related field, with at least 1 year in a leadership or people management role.
- Proven experience in supporting development and implementation of data governance frameworks and policies that ensure data quality, security, and compliance.
- Strong technical background with hands-on experience in data management, data modeling, and data quality processes.
- Demonstrated ability to support development, enforcement and adoption of data governance standards, guidelines, and best practices.
- Experience with data governance tools and frameworks such as Collibra, Informatica, Purview or similar platforms.
- Understanding of data privacy regulations and compliance requirements.
- Proven track record of working with cross-functional teams and influencing peer stakeholders of the organization.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Examples of some experience in leadership and/or team-building skills, with a willingness for developing and mentoring talent.
- Problem-solving and solution-oriented skills are essential.
